This fall, our Activating Fluxus team is pleased to welcome Sara Duborg Døssing as a guest researcher. Sara joins us from Aarhus University in Denmark and works professionally as a curator at the HEART — Herning Museum of Contemporary Art. Below you can find her short biography and the topics she will be exploring with us until December.
Welcome Sara!

Sara is a PhD Fellow at HEART Herning Museum of Contemporary Art and affiliated with the School of Communication and Culture, Department of Art History, Aesthetics & Culture and Museology at Aarhus University in Denmark.
She holds a BA and MA in Art History from Aarhus University. Her MA thesis, Piero Manzoni – The Political Potential of Materials, was completed in collaboration with HEART and examined the materials used by Italian artist Piero Manzoni during his stays at the Angli shirt factory in Herning in 1960–61.
Since 2021 she has been a curator at HEART, doing research and exhibitions based on the museum’s collection. Her doctoral dissertation explores the “Angli Avant‑garde”: the collaboration between artists and factories in Herning from 1950–1970 within a material perspective. The project is a cross-disciplinary study combining art history and conservation and is supported by the New Carlsberg Foundation.
As a guest researcher in the SNSF project ‘Activating Fluxus’, Sara explores notions of authenticity, changeability and intentionality in Fluxus works to develop her methodology.
