Announcing our Grand Finale: Fluxus Fête

Even amid the sad news of the passing of two extraordinary Fluxus artists within the past two months, we are reminded to keep the Fluxus spirit alive. As our project enters its final phase, momentum is growing toward Fluxus Fête, the concluding events to be held on 26–28 February 2026 – please save the date!

Fluxus Fête is a series of events celebrating the radical spirit of Fluxus, while simultaneously marking the conclusion of the research project Activating Fluxus. Over three days and across multiple formats, and making space for remembering Fluxus’ grant influences, the Fête brings together artists, scholars, and audiences to explore Fluxus’s playful, experimental, and boundary-pushing practices. The program features lectures, panels, and discussions that interrogate Fluxus’s history, philosophy, ongoing influence, and afterlife, alongside performances that activate scores and reinterpret Fluxus-inspired works.

The first day, “The (Im)possibilities of Touch: Ay-O’s Finger Boxes–A Conservation Study Day,” is dedicated to the study of Ay-O’s finger boxes. Co-organized with the Getty Research Institute, this day will take place hybridly with limited in situ participation in Bern and Los Angeles and is by invitation only.

The second day of Fluxus Fête features “Activations: An international Symposium” with prominent speakers from around the globe and including presentations by the project team members. The symposium takes place at HKB Bern, Fellerstrasse 11 and is public.

The final day, taking place at Cabaret Voltaire Zürich, includes artistic enactments, readings, and an exhibition of scores. This is a public part of the program, taking place in the historical premises of Cabaret Voltaire at Spiegelgasse 1, 8001 Zürich. Space is limited.

Fluxus Fête offers a platform for reflection and experimentation, as well as convivial exchange between specialists and non-specialists and all those interested—honoring Fluxus’s ethos of openness, collaboration, and dialogue.
